Livery over MP

Postby simongrant » Sun Oct 26, 2014 1:47 pm

Hi,
I have the Global VA liveries for my aircraft, these show locally with no issues, i have tested over MP using the method per the wiki (run 2 fgfs one 5702 5701 and the other 5701 5702) when i do this i see my aircraft on with the global livery in all instances but when i run fgfs over MP and ask other pilots what livery they see they all tell me BA.
So am i right in thinking the other pilots need to have the global liveries locally for my aircraft to be seen in global livery?

cheers

Yes, that's right. You cannot put a custom livery through multiplayer.
I would use FSX but I use FlightGear because it's a project with goals.

Windows 7; Processor: 8 core 4 GHz; 8GB RAM; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (a pretty good graphics card if you're wondering)

right, except for scenery, FG will never actually try to distribute resources - what is happening under the hood is that FG will exchange an identifier, i.e. pointing to a relative path in $FG_ROOT. Thus, the actual aircraft (or any of its resources) are never exchanged in any way. The MP protocol is extremely simple (aka dumb) - so it depends on all parties having a $FG_ROOT/$FG_AIRCRAFT directory that is matching up.

Hmmmhh... I think the soultion is to give your Livery to all pilots, :) As a matter of fact, THERE IS NO PHILIPPINE AIRLINE Livery for the B747-400 in the FlightGear Livery Database, so when in MP, we both used the PAL livery, and the effect is, the fuslage shown the PAL liver, but the tail did'nt, but why not try it with a friend. maybe it'll work.
