TerraSync: Automatic download of scenery and data

Can someone explain what the different checkboxes in the screen for the settings of TerraSync do?
"Enable automatic download/update" is the general switch to disable or enable TerraSync, I think. But wherefore are the other two checkboxes? With checking "Download traffic and multi-player aircraft", I thought that multiplayer aircraft that I did not had installed, would be downloaded so I could see the other aircraft; but that didn't work... And what are the "other data files"?
If I start Flightgear, only the first checkbox is checked, even though I had checked all boxes when I closed the program the last time. Is that behaviour correct?

I do suspect that it will download files for AI traffic and the (AI) models required to visualise that traffic if AI traffic is enabled, I do not know for sure though.
