Multiplayer issue on Ubuntu 11.04

Postby Apophis » Mon Sep 19, 2011 5:01 am

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and Flightgear v2.4.0. I used the deb from http://www.playdeb.net/updates/Ubuntu/11.04/
Everything seems to work just fine except that I cannot seem to get on multiplayer. It indicates that I am on the server, but I cannot see myself on the server map.
Here is a copy of my commands:
/usr/games/fgfs
--fg-root=/usr/share/games/flightgear
--fg-scenery=/usr/share/games/flightgear/terrascenery:/usr/share/games/flightgear/Scenery
--airport=4S9
--aircraft=pa24-250-CIII
--control=joystick
--enable-random-objects
--enable-horizon-effect
--enable-enhanced-lighting
--enable-ai-models
--enable-real-weather-fetch
--fog-fastest
--geometry=1280x1024
--bpp=24
--time-match-local
--atlas=socket,out,5,localhost,5505,udp
--callsign=JEFlyer
--multiplay=out,10,mpserver02.flightgear.org,5000
--multiplay=in,10,192.168.9.103,5000

Here is a copy of the log window:

1 - '/usr/share/games/flightgear/terrascenery'
error binding to port 5505
Processing command line arguments
Starting automatic scenery download/synchronization. Using external SVN utility 'svn'. Directory: '/usr/share/games/flightgear/terrascenery'.
Httpd server started on port 5500
Property server started on port 5501
HttpdImage server started on port 5502
Warning: TangentSpaceGenerator: unknown primitive mode 9
Warning: TangentSpaceGenerator: unknown primitive mode 9
loading scenario 'nimitz_demo'
creating 3D noise texture... DONE
KI266 dme indicator #0 initialized
Nasal Electrical System Initialized

My firewall is configured correctly to allow port 5000 to push to my PC.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like the error is here:

1 - '/usr/share/games/flightgear/terrascenery'
error binding to port 5505

on port 5005 for atlas, nothing to do with multiplayer.
if you have a firewall rule, you have to enable that port.

I agree with on opening the port. I actually have that port open on my firewall and still get that error. What's funny though is that I don't have a problem with scenery. Terrasync seems to work just fine. I can go to a new airport and it will dl the information. I just can't seem to show up on multiplayer.

Solved: it appears that the package on "PlayDeb" does not include Simgear. I installed that and I'm good. :D
