Multiplayer Map Issue

Postby cory » Sat Aug 20, 2011 12:39 am

When I sign into multiplayer, the map opens up in safari, but instead of displaying the map I get a 403 Forbidden error. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using 2.4 on Mac OSx Lion. The map worked for me on earlier versions.

The MP Map is a website, so the version of FG you're using won't matter.
I checked the provider of the MPmap02, and that site seems to be 403'd, too.

Try http://mpmap01.flightgear.org, the alternative MPmap.
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Despite having over 1700 posts here, I am not even close to being the most skilled guy here... I'm just words and bad drawing, not experience. :P

http://mpmap01.flightgear.org works, but the 'nav' tab is broken on it.

I'd really like to see it fixed, because I'm learning too much about how to read aviation charts while it's down.

BTW, does anybody know where to find international charts online?

International charts are hard to come by, since FlightAware doesn't have them...
Usually, some of the VATSIM sites have them, if you're lucky. -for example, VATGER (VATSIM-Germany) has many charts for their major airports, while I haven't come across any charts for any of the Japanese airports.

...what makes things worse is that some of the Navaids in reality and the charts don't work in FlightGear.
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

mpmap02.flightgear.org IS BACK! :) and subsequently so is the nav service on mpmap01.

I know I said this somewhere else...

:) still happy about it.

Ray

PS.
( you didn't hear me say this here,
[ shameless plug alert!!]
but there are some hard to find charts at the http://www.atlasvirtualairlines.com/
While you do have to have an account there, I assume that the vast majority of people with accounts there that do not fly for the airlines have accounts there so that they can find hard to find information included in the site. )
[/ shameless plug alert!]

Now back to your regularly scheduled flight program.

Very not much up to date maps can be found at the Joint Operations Graphic and Other Aeronautical Chart Series page at the Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection at the University of Texas web site.

Probably helpful mostly for World circumnavigations is the complete(?) collection of Operational Navigation Charts (ONCs) in 1:1 000 000 scale.
