There all cross linked ( most of the time ) So by joining the server nearest you, you can still ( or should still ) see the pilots on the other servers.

What is good amount of the pilots ? I seen 60 FG pilots only very few times. And they were spreaded over the globe, not at one place. Now, 2021-07-18 0820Z there are only 19 pilots...

Unless its an organised event, those figures look correct, as do the wide spread locations.

I would advise to:
  • just fly online. It happened several times that someone found me on the mpmap and joined me.
Likewise, look at the mpmap before your trip, and consider joining someone.
  • check atc schedules at the atc event page. Pick some controlled airspace, they have usually higher numbers and at the very least a human controller
  • check the mp forums for events, and join one.
For example I’m part of a fairly regular small-ga wednesday evening event group, that developed out of me flying single but online routes and making friends with volador who spontaneously joined me. We are usually 5-6 pilots now!

what do you mean?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Every multiplayer server can be used by any reasonably modern version of FlightGear, and different versions of FlightGear can share a multiplayer server. Especially for FlightGear 2017.1.1 or later.
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

I want to find a good server as I am getting kind of annoyed with AI's only being with me. Any ideas on how to join a server with actual people and not AI's who just say "Hello" every once in a while?

I usually fly on mpserver01.
It's also a good idea to join some common voice chat like the somewhat "official" one: radio-mumble.flightgear.fr

That "Hello" is a standard message the sim sends upon connecting (but it can be replaced to something else by the user).

Also, you might want to check for dedicated multiplayer events.
This evening 1900UTC is, for example, the GA Wednesday

  1. the only AI craft in FG are those you enable with the "AI Traffic" option...
  2. they do not say "Hello" at all...
  3. AI Traffic is not (supposed to be) broadcast on the MP network...
  4. if this "Hello" is what you are seeing in the chat window, it is a real person and they have just connected with an MP server...
  5. this automatic "Hello" is something the sim does for all that connect to MP...
  6. they may be too far away from you for "live chat"... that only works within like 100nm range...
proper live radio chatter works like this, too...
  7. all MP servers are interconnected so it generally does not matter while MP server you connect to...
  8. the only time which MP server you are connected to may matter is if you are trying to fly in close formation with another pilot...

Thank you. But why does it say that the ai is saying "hello"? thank you so much for telling me that chat only works with 100 miles. Also, I went to an airplane that showed up on the map but It didn't exist and just kept saying "hello"?

why does what say there is nobody on the server? where, exactly, are you seeing that?
