A320 Fails at Haneda Airport

Postby Mister Sir » Wed Apr 20, 2022 7:34 am

Just loaded in the A320-271N at Haneda RJTT (parking position 83) and it spawned in the water with a red message box saying the following:

Something Happened!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Something happened and an internal error has occured. The aircraft has been disabled.
The error code and cause are listed below. Please include this information if reporting this error.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error Code: 0x223
Reason: Preposterous configuration detected for inizialitation. Check your position or scenery.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My OS is Windows 10.
I use FlightGear 2020.3.11.
I have a GTX 1650.
I downloaded the aircraft from the launcher.
This is a recurring issue with this aircraft & airport.

do you have the scenery for that area? if you do not, FG will render water and yes, your craft will have problems ;)

in your launcher settings, be sure you have enabled "automatic scenery download" and give FG some time to actually download the scenery when you launch the sim...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Can you try the same airport with the default Cessna and let FG download all scenery?
Then close FG and relaunch with A320.

It tells you the problem...
"Check your position or scenery."

If you spawn in river, you are not valid scenery, and initialization can't proceed. Fix your scenery, it is not caused by A320.

The error you get is raised whenever you
1. spawn in the air or in the water (because no weight on the nosegear)
2. your starting position is higher than 15000 ft

@Octal450: why does this exist at all ? I have commented out that part of the code because it annoyed me I couldn't start on approach but only on the ground, and it works normally - I couldn't notice any malfunctions.

@MisterSir: If you want to get rid of the error, just find the folder of the A320, then open the AircraftConfig/acconfig.nas file and put a # sign at the start of the lines 121 to 128 (both included).

TheEagle, from the FAQ:
"This error occurs when there is an issue with the scenery that prevents initialization, or if you are starting in air.
Starting in air is not possible with this aircraft.
The simulation is so complex that there is no support for starting it in mid-air. Therefore, please make sure that you start it on the ground, powering it up appropriately."

Yes, perhaps you won't notice anything if you not have a keen eye or just making manual landings, but the simulation is very complex, one of the most complex in FG, and there are many significant sequencing problems that result from this.

At some point, in air configuration will be added by assuming values where possible but right now its too early.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hi, thanks everyone, I'll try these suggestions when I'm back next week, but I am sure that I spawned on the ground.

Then, make sure the nose gear is not in the water ! (Or, if the groundnet is not well-made, it could be that you spawn on some object which holds the nose gear up a few inches … you won't notice by looking, but it'll still raise the error)

Sorry, what I mean by that is it was above sea level, not floating in water. I thought that people were thinking I had chosen a parking space in the water. The ground itself was water.
