No tiller steering on a320 family?

Controlling your aircraft, using the autopilot etc.

No tiller steering on a320 family?

Postby RS001 » Sat Apr 03, 2021 4:15 pm

I can't taxi because It seems that tiller lever only control via rudder fedal not real tiller steering.
when I control tiller, the nose gear not turned 90 degrees. :evil: :evil:
I'm looking for your advice. Thank you for giving your advice.

I'm sure you mean well but using those emoticons might not invite developers to give you the answer you are looking for.

Maybe uncheck ''use seperate tiller steering axis'' in ac config

You're right.

The nose gear turns 75 degrees. Just like the real aircraft.

What exactly is the problem?

Bad advice --> you need to check it, and then define a separate tiller axis.

unfortunately, although I controlled tiller, the nose gear never turned left or right. In other words, nose gear turns 0 deg.
Just only rudder moved.

I usually used keyboard, somtimes use joystick via iPhone.

And thank you for your advice of "use seperate tiller steering axis", but It seems not working.
Nevertheless, your idea was nice try. thanks!

Dear RS001,

Try the following:

Press / and navigate to /controls/flight then change the aileron-drives-tiller option to true
Then navigate to /control/gear and change the option steering to 1
Then change the option tiller-enabled to 1

Maybe it could work.

Good flying!!!!

Are you aware that thread is 2 years old?

That advice is NOT recommended.

By default, tiller is driven by the rudder and no change are needed to be made.

If you want to control it by aileron (like auto-coordination) you don't need to.

aileron-drives-tiller is automatically enabled if you turn on auto-coordination. Not recommended to set the property manually.

The second 2 you mentioned are NOT used by our FCS so setting them does absolutely nothing.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Dear Josh,

You are right, that thread is too old, maybe that advice wouldn't be good but I am having some problems with my rudder myself, which is not steering the gear.
But it starts working when I turn on that option.

Could you help me with that?

Kind regards,

Searcher.

Hi,
What are you trying to steer the plane with, rudder input or aileron? (Or a seperate tiller?)

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hi,

I am trying to steer with the joystick only, which is connected to the aileron axis.

Regards,

Searcher.

does your joystick twist? that's generally how i steer a craft while on the ground...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

My joystik twists, but I consider angle is not enough. I use keyboard arrows left and right with alt modification (in B777).

Code: Select all
<key n="356">
  <name>Left</name>
  <mod-alt>
    <binding>
      <command>property-adjust</command>
      <property>controls/gear/tiller-cmd-norm</property>
       <step type="double">-0.05</step>
       <min>-0.85</min>
    </binding>
  </mod-alt>
</key>
<key n="358">
  <name>Right</name>
    <mod-alt>
       <binding>
         <command>property-adjust</command>
         <property>controls/gear/tiller-cmd-norm</property>
         <step type="double">0.05</step>
        <max>0.85</max>
    </binding>
   </mod-alt>
 </key>

BTW, is there way to use modification keys (alt, shift) to change role of joystick axis?
