Flight Plan Deviation Issue

Postby aero.vish30 » Wed Mar 17, 2021 5:50 am

Hello , I am using FG 2018.3.6 with 777 aircraft. I am trying to fly on a plotted course from PHNL to KLAX (genrated here : http://onlineflightplanner.org) but i observed that even when I am on the course , Map (canvas) at 0.6NM zoom shows i am deviated. I have switched off any cross wind before i start FG via command line parameters. I am also fetching Lat and Lon values out on localhost for some flight monitoring work, but it also shows i am off track, even when i was able to keep aircraft on track at 0.6NM zoom. Not sure what is causing this, If anyone can help me out understanding this.

Also is there any way i can fetch out the data related to track and crosswind via protocol ?

In my personal experience, when the waypoints are far away (as in your example more than 200nm ish), the map is not precise about the route, due to the curvature of the earth. The plane will either fly at a constant course or a constant track, depending on the heading system it uses (loxodromy or orthodromy).
