DHC6 Twin Otter engine failure

Postby rommel » Thu Feb 04, 2021 6:43 am

Hello all;
I was starting the DHC6 to fly and the left engine do not start, when check the console I found that:

5617.64 [INFO]:nasal Your left engine is damaged by sands and stones!

I use FlightGear-2020.3.5 (FlightGear-2020.3.5-x86_64.AppImage) in KDE Neon 5.20.5 (based un Ubuntu 20.04)

The aircraft was downloaded from http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/flightgear/f ... t/dhc6.zip

First time that this happens.

Any ideas how to solve this? without reboot the game...

The way it's coded, you can't "repair" the aircraft - you have to restart FG.

The way to prevent this is to either start up on tarmac, or to enable the intake deflectors before throttling up.

Hello;
thanks for the answer.

I was starting in a runway.

How can I do that (enable intake deflector)? I try to do this using the two switch in the panel but they never put in On position, when I try to put in On position they always back to the Off position.

The intake deflector switches are a little odd. You have to hold them in the Extend (or On) position for about 4 seconds. The switches then return to the middle position, but (I think) that should do it for you.

At least, that's what the wiki says. I've not tried it myself yet.
Get my custom FG liveries here: https://flightgearhusky.altervista.org/

I'm off at college so I've stopped making liveries (for the time being, at least), but I'm continuing to ensure compatibility for the ones I've already published.
