Flightgear 2020.2.1 help Cesna 172P

Postby Proviv » Thu Aug 27, 2020 3:25 am

Hi there!

Just downloaded and started Flightgear yesterday (no clue why I haven't tried it out sooner). Initially had some trouble cos FlightGear wasn't opening but it eventually worked and I opened the nightly build Flightgear 2020.2.1!

MacBook Air OSX Catalina
1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB

The following issues I had were during the preflight tutorial and start engine + takeoff tutorial.

1. Magnetos set on both, with the throttle on 20% and holding down 's' but propellors not moving and engine not starting

2. Oil check not working during preflight inspection - when I click anywhere inside the pink marker nothing is happening

Pls help me to solve these two issues.

Thanks :D

Hey man,
Sorry for such a late reply, but this is one of the known issues of the Cessna 172 for Flightgear. Usually, when I click "s", the engines don't start. I think the easiest way to get around this is to click Autostart.

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I think we fixed that issue in the current c172p. Mag 1 and 2 ON were skipped when using the 's' key. But I remember fixing that.
