I am coming across more and more Airports that have different airport data on the FG Map & Route Manager. Route Manager data seems to agree with other map sources like Sky Vector. Does FG Map get updated from independent sources like Sky Vector & others.
FlightGear uses relatively old data pulled at the time from X-Plane (IIRC). This data is not updated regularly because this could cause conflicts with the (also relatively old) scenery.
Are you referring to one specific part of the navigation data, e.g. VORs, FIXes, RNAV Points or Airport positions?
Yes, FlightGear uses very outdated navigational data - whereas online sources (chart providers) use different data.
To solve this, you need to use the same underlying data source.
The most straightforward option would be to procedurally render our own charts using the map/atlas tools, and use those internally, without relying on 3rd party sources, and online services:
The point I was making was the FG MP Map has different runway data from Route Manager on occasions take LFOB as an example. My point about external resources were that they agreed with Route Manager. This extends again sometime to runway approach heading which can be up to 10 degrees different, the external source being correct.
fundamentally, all you need to do is to drive mpmap using the same navdata - given that there is a built-in mongoose based httpd server, it would not seem that far-fetched to directly run mpmap via Phi - while fetching all navdata from fgfs via conventional ajax calls
I understand what you are saying but have no ideal how to even attempt such a thing. I use Free Air Map which syncs with Route Manager and Phi so I get the data that shows up on that source which agrees with first dropdown map under equipment. FG MP Map is still useful for runway orientation before loading RM
