Recording and Playback on flightgear

Postby Kaosiia » Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:04 am

Hello there,

So i am currently working on a project and I need to be able to record flights and save them and be able to obtain data (glidescope deviation, localizer deviation , distance from centerline runway etc ) from them later on.

So my question now is,
how do i record and save flights so i can playback for later and be able to obtain these information.

Thank you so much for your help!

Record those properties as flightrecorder signals.

For some background, see:

There is the remaining issue, that the system is aircraft-focused, i.e. for any non-aircraft data, you would need to set up a separate logger or use XML/Nasal code to set up the corresponding properties first.

For instance, the glideslope is obviously airport/runway specific - but you could set up the logger to record the corresponding instrumentation properties (think nav1/nav2 and VOR/CDI or HSI)

Note that it would be fairly simple to develop such a utility in-sim, using the existing scripting system and the 2D drawing API, there is also a dedicated "addon framework" available - these tools can be used to easily create fairly sophisticated graphics without having to use external tools and without having to patch/rebuild FlightGear, for example see: ... y_in_Nasal
