New airport Istanbul LTFM missing

Postby meitoma » Sat Nov 23, 2019 10:56 am

Hello, today I want flight from LTAI (Antalya) to LTFM (Istanbul International Airport). But if I enter the icao code to the autopilot i receive nothing. Will be added the airport in a later version ? I use FG Version 2019.1.1. Thanks.

if the airport is added to the x-plane gateway, it will be used automatically the next time the FG world scenery is built... building the world is a huge task and takes a long time to run... it isn't run and done in an hour ;)

i should also mention that work is being done to enhance the scenery building mechanism so that updates are available sooner and without having to build the whole world every time... this work is taking time, though... no idea how much more time is needed, though... several methodologies are being investigated and implemented... some are better than others... we can only wait and see what happens...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

X-Plane has it, and so do I. Let me do a little hacking and see what I can come up with to convert the files to Flightgear.
I think the apt.dat is not a problem. You can install it locally. That is best until the new update.
The scenery appears to be a different folder/file structure. Folder is +40+020 and only file in that folder is +41+028.dsf.
I'll have to play with that. May not be right away.

EDIT: As I suspected the apt.dat file worked ok.
Problem being I can't get the terrain and objects. I'm out in a forest. :(
How do I get the objects and terrain from that other file?

Hello and thanks for the information. But where can I download the file or folder +40+020 or +41+028dsf ? And to which folder it´s necessary to copy the files ? I use windows10. Thanks.

I got the apt.dat to work, but the other terrain file doesn't work. :(

@SurferTim, what did you try to do? Are you aware that to have the airport terrain, you need to generate scenery using terragear http://wiki.flightgear.org/TerraGear?

@D-ECHO: I tried using terragear before, and had no luck getting it to work.

If I post my files, would you do the conversion? The apt.dat file works. It puts you in a forest.

IMHO your Windward Islands scenery should be the standard.

Yep I can generate it for you, given the files are all GPL-compatible

Thanks! See what you can do. After unpacking, I renamed the apt.dat file to LTFM.dat and put it in my "additional scenery" folder.

No hurry. At your convenience.

I'm flying the Twin Otter on my normal route.

First built is now available at https://github.com/D-ECHO/Istanbul . My FG is currently not working ( as my graphics card died ) so I can't check the scenery, please report any bugs you find.

It looks good here! I'm on an airport, and the runway lights are on. It is raining in Istanbul, and it's dark (I changed the time to check it out).

I used FG server online map, and I am right where I am supposed to be.

Thank you.

Edit: No nav or fix files with that. I'm working on that now. One VOR and at least a couple ILS, probably 4.

Here is a basic nav set for LTFM. VOR/DME and 4 ILS/DME. Flew them all to the numbers.
http://www.prolectron.com/flightgear/LTFM.zip
Unzip it and put it in a "/NavData/nav/" folder in your "additional scenery" folder.
