Split off from the topic ATIS msg deletion

I am new to FlightGear and this forum. I have a lot to learn which thanks to all the info out there I'm slowly getting there. I know how to set up ATIS frequency in Com1 but all I get is Morse code. I note this thread is 3 years old but there doesn't appear to be a definitive answer to the problem.

Can anyone help

1. sounds like you are tuning in a localizer or similar instead of a voice broadcast... which airport and what frequency are you using?

2. this sub is for problems with FGCom which is used for multiplayer... the problem you describe seems to be more general and not related to MP... i've asked a moderator to split your's and my posts to the proper subforum...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

The airport is Inverness EGPE and ATIS is 109.20 taken from Skyvector data.

Re your second point do I get notified if there is a response or it's moved. I only asked because it stated I had no messages. I simply came back to check.

109.200 is the VOR-DME on field with the ident INS.
I dont find a ATIS frequency for EGPE.

yeah, you have to use the freqs listed in FG... not those from external sources... FG has some old data which will be updated when the next scenery build takes place... check the radio and airport data available within the sim to find the proper freqs to use...

i'm not sure... i think the only way to get a notification is to follow a topic but if the topic gets split, you may not be following the right one at that point...

i always use the "New posts" link and read all topics since i was last on... click the little right-pointing red arrow beside the topic subject and it'll take you to the first new post in the topic... use ALT-LeftArrow or your [Back] button to return to the list... you have to catch up all areas before this works well...

you might use "Your unsolved topics" but it may only work for topics you start... when an response is posted that answers your question, you can click the checkmark in that post's header to accept it as the answer and then the topic will be removed from "Your unsolved topics"...

these links are under the graphic on the main page of these forums...

Thanks for the quick reply. I have looked at the data on the location in the opening page and all it says about frequencies is a button to activate localiser, which I normally do on radio page. And a blue square with INS 109.20. Is this the data you are referring too or is there somewhere else.

On the Inverness Airport's own page it says the ATIS is a Voice part of 109.200 VOR-DME. Accepting of course what you say about it having to be FG data, it does sound odd. How would you get voice data over a Morse signal.

i cannot test this but is the morse from one of that airport's devices or is it from another airport somewhere else that maybe shouldn't be being picked up?

As far as I know there's nothing close. I did discover today flying another plane and another airport I got ATIS, but bizarrely then not localiser Morse although the Glideslope worked. I am guessing this was a radio volume issue. Couldn't get buttons to work as it does when I fly Piper PA 28. All good fun. Thanks again.

Robertfm is right. Inverness send ATIS over the on-field VOR-DME 'INS' in real live.
See http://ourairports.com/airports/EGPE/pilot-info.html#comm
AS far as I know, FG doesn't simulated this behavior, sorry.
You can get ATIS only if the frequency listed under AI->ATC Services in Range and than klick on the airport of your coice.
