Aircraft location is wrong

Postby RickKMOB » Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:58 pm

I run Ubuntu 18.04 and Flightgear 3.1 when I set my location to a local airport KMOB the plane moves to the middle of Mobile Bay which in real life is 20 miles / 36KM east of the airports location. I also noticed sets the location at -9999ft below ground level.

Is there some way to fix this, this problem first occurred when I upgraded to 3.1, 2.8 worked great and only happens in linux when I run the windows version everything works fine.

Is there somewhere to download 2.8?

I tried with 2018.3.1 and Ubuntu 18.04, and KMOB is fine, except it's raining.

Ensure you have selected "Download scenery automatically" in your settings.

Rick,
3.1 is an extremely old version -- I suggest updating to the latest and greatest (2018.3.2)!

Kind Regards,

Unfortunately, the "latest and greatest" hasn't made it to the Ubuntu version. We have 2018.3.1 or beta version 2018.4.0.

you can always use the PPA, right? ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Hi!

I have Ubuntu 18.04LTS too and use the download and compile script.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://wiki.flightgear.org/Scripted_Compilation_on_Linux_Debian/Ubuntu&ved=2ahUKEwj-04O8wuDgAhXNAGMBHZplCioQFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw31oM5f0YPjLoofzqj7ZSNO
Even the development versions compile and work like a charm!

Ciao,

Adrian
