Weird bug (feature?) in flightgear

Postby michael4123 » Wed Dec 26, 2018 2:51 am

First of all, I think this is a bug but am unauthorized to post tickets in SourceForge... so I try my luck in here.
The problem is in the telnet protocol, i.e. when writing
-telnet=socket,in...
in the settings window

When I am trying to set throttle through '/controls/engines/current-engine/throttle', it is OK, but when I am trying to set it through '/controls/engines/engine/throttle', it does not update.
This might be OK because I can still change the throttle value. but the problem begins when I am trying to change the parking brake. The path should be
/controls/gear/brake-parking, but the value will simply not change.

I looked for an alternative path but did not find any. what can I do?

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running? Windows 10
- what FlightGear version do you use? 2018.3.1
- what graphics card do you have? I don't know and don't think it's relevant
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport? I have only Cessna 172p
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from? default
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)? running from gui

Hi michael4123 welcome to the forum,

There are what is referred to as "tied properties" in FG. I never really understood the concept, only know you can't write directly to them. I guess the c++ controls their input? So you have to use a different property either existing or created. Depending on the aircraft and what property is used for its control of a particular item, you might have to edit the xml of the aircraft and tie in your new property to control the entity your trying to control.
It might help to know which aircraft your working with. Some one may be familiar with it and what controls it has.
