C172P sim screen is 99% black with pinpricks of light

I'm using FG V2018.2.2, Win 10 Pro, Asus ROG Strix.

This morning, when I loaded C172P, the sim screen looks 99% black.

There are some pinpricks of dim lights here and there, and I can see the red strings of numerals on the black panel just to the right of the starboard seat. Nothing else is visible.

If I advance the throttle, the pinpricks of lights flow past me to port and starboard. So, I'm obviously advancing down the runway. Eventually, I'm aware that I'm climbing over the airport.

My first ever black screen occurred a few days ago, after loading a Sopwith Camel. Prior to that, my only aircraft had been the C172P, and no black screens ever occurred.

My first flight today was with C172P. The screen was black. No options were changed after shutdown last night, and restart this morning.

Just now, I uninstalled the Camel using Uninstall in Aircraft in the sim. The screen is still black.

Are you perhaps flying at night? Would you be able to share a screenshot showing the screen?

If you are flying at night you can check and change that in the launcher environment tab or in the environment -> time menu in the simulator.

That was the problem. The option was set to "Current time". Airport is unknown - but could be Auckland or somewhere in Siberia.

That would explain why last night it was dark in my location - but daylight in the sim

yes, time is accurately simulated for the location in which you are flying... if it is daylight in your physical location and you're flying in part of the world that is in the dark, the sim will properly show the night time sky for that area... you can force the time via the launcher's Environment tab as well as from within the sim via the F10->Environment->Time dialog...

You can also start the simulator with a preset time ie, Dawn, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Dusk, Evening, Midnight.
