The same is happening to me:

In the taxiing tutorial using the Cessna 172 in my Linux computer I can release the parking brakes, either by using the mouse or shift+B. But I cannot release the regular brakes, I press "b", once, several times, keep it pressed for 5 seconds, nothing.

Outside the tutorial it works wonderfully and I can get the plane to move just fine.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Thank you!

There is a glitch in the system. Toggle the "Allow Damage" checkbox off and back on or off and leave it off. I thought I sorted it out, but guess not.
