But what do you mean by, “AP/FD is not with pitch controlling the speed,”? “ “If all FDs/APs are off, its in SPEED mode“ and in cruise, how do I maintain FPL, altitude, speed, all at once?

I just watched it, but in climb, how do you make sure in doesn’t go overspeed? Increase VS?

No -- don't use V/S, use OP CLB (OP DES for descending). Just middle click (PULL) altitude knob, for these modes. The autopilot controls speed via pitch...

Did you watch the video actually? V/S is one of the modes when the A/THR is in SPEED (or MACH) mode, so you don't have to do that.

Josh

You middle click, I thought it was left click. No wonder, will try. Thanks for your help!

Okay, there's good and bad news. Good news is I climbed up to FL125 without stalling. The bad news is that I used speed mode and not OP CLB. Will continue to try.

EDIT: SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! GOT IT

Good.

The modes OP CLB/DES work by adjusting the pitch of the aircraft to achieve the target speed with the A/THR on a the climb or idle limit thrust. If you want to descend faster, increase target speed a bit or deploy speed brakes. To climb faster, reduce target speed a bit. It gives the best climb and descent performance for the target speed.

I just completed a full flight from LOWI to LOWW which is nice, but ILS frequencies, where do I input them?

MCDU RAD NAV page.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Note: Future versions will auto-tune the ILS when a ILS approach runway is selected in the MCDU.

But for the VORs, ADFs, and Courses, what do I input? Nearby VORs, etc.?

No need to input anything if you don't want to use them.

The course is simply the HDG you would you fly inbound/outbound from the vor/ndb. For the ILS you would input the runway heading here.

Yep. Charlie is spot on here.

I will add: Airbus did not make provisions for VOR radial tracking in the Airbus autopilot anywhere. (sidenote: MD-11 puts this into the MCDU, no FCP button)
You must manually use the HDG, or use RNAV.

VOR1 and VOR2 and their course inputs are for VORs, and will allow only to have VOR frequencies, not ILS frequencies. Putting an ILS here will throw a NOT ALLOWED.
ADF1 and ADF2 can take any ADF frequencies
ILS is for the ILS localizers, putting a VOR here with throw a NOT ALLOWED.
If the system is using FMGC1, it is ILS1, if the system is using FMGC2, it is ILS2. (FMGC single failure is not modeled, so this is not too useful to know...yet.)

Josh

Oh and are the TOD and TOC arrows programmed? If yes, how do I turn them on?
