i've been using Gigabyte and ASUS motherboards with AMD CPU chips, GSkill RAM, and NVIDIA video cards... put it together in some compatible case with a good strong 500+ watt power supply and a reliable SATA hard drive of whatever size and you've got a good decent machine... depending on how much money you can spend, the video card may be as much as the rest of the system... i have no clue about a monitor as i still use an old CRT monitor but am looking to remedy that soonish...
