Having my friend co-pilot

Postby jestepp65 » Mon Aug 07, 2017 11:48 pm

Hello,

How can a friend connect to the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental plane as a co-pilot? I cannot figure this out.

Any Help is Appreciated!
Best Regards,

It is important that one of you use the main aircraft and the other the -first-officer/-fo/-copilot variant and you must also start at nearby locations, e.g. the same airport. Can you see each other in the MP-pilot list?

Is the first offer/copilot a different aircraft or do you just add -fo to the callsign?

It is a different aircraft variant. I think there are some arrows in the launcher to select variant. Using the command line it is a different aircraft name passed to the --aircraft= argument.

Instead of using the multiplayer servers (which seem to work well, with the splendid MPmap),
I would like to try a direct my-to-his external (not lan) IP-to-IP connection,
to use Flightgear 2017.2.1 (or now 2017.3.1) to:

1. Fly two c172 planes, being able to see each other's aircraft
2. Fly c172-pilot and he fly c172-copilot

We both have several computers on a lan, so if I set my --multiplayer out to his IP, port nnnn
and his --multiplayer in to 128.0.0.1 port nnnn ... will that work, or

does one need to port-forward (In his internet gateway router) port nnnn to his flightgear computer's lan IP address?
If so, how should his --multiplayer in be specified?

Is there a similar IP-to-IP that works for the pilot & copilot situation?

Is there a provision for pilot-copilot voice communication (I have not found it)?

Thanks, Gary

For connecting two computers without an intermediate server, check out this guide in the wiki.

For voice comms, you can use FGCOM (which is built into flightgear), Discord, or Mumble.
