CORRECTION: Altimeter Acting Different in version 2017.2.1

Postby Ron Swerdfeger » Fri Jun 23, 2017 6:37 pm

I'm using Windows 10 and just installed FG 2017.2.1. I noticed that when the simulator is un-paused and the plane starts (Cessna 172p) the altimeter immediately shows the correct elevation but as the plane sits idling on runway the altimeter will quickly drop up to 400 feet. Previous versions did not do this. Just wondering what might be going on?

I guess it's the weather engine, AW shakes the altimeter on start here too.
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

The altimeter implementation is not showing simulated truth or simulated truth based on a fudge factor, it's a simulation of a real altimeter and it will react to pressure changes as a real instrument would do - even if these pressure changes come from changing the weather.

I have my weather environment set to core high pressure as in previous versions of FG. Version 2017.1.2 & 2017.1.3 did not act like this, just wondering why version 2017.2.1 is doing so?

CORRECTION, MY MISTAKE: First, thanks for your help! The Altimeter on FG Version 2017.1.2 & 2017.1.3 & 2017.2.1 all act the same when weather environment is set to Fair Weather, the altimeter does not shake down about 400 feet with Cessna 172p idling on runway. However it does when weather environment is set to Core High Pressure.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for helping me clear this up :)
