F-14 AFCS attitude hold mode

Postby redtwo » Thu May 04, 2017 8:12 pm

Hi,

I am new to flying this bird but from what i understand enabling the AFCS attitude hold mode with CTRL-t should maintain pitch? It seems to set pitch always to 0 (the horizontal line on the hud), but does maintain roll.

Thanks.

The AFCS isn't quite right as per the aircraft at the moment - it's something that I think I might have broken when I added the jsbsim mode. It's something that I need some clear time to sit down and figure out - as the current autopilot is entwined with nasal, an autopilot system and a jsbsim system.

When engaging altitude hold it should hold altitude, and you might find that it will hold roll (I can't remember exactly what it does, as usually I just CTRL-T CTRL-A CTRL-H).

If you press CTRL-H it will follow the selected heading; possibly using the wrong knob on the HSI. A second CTRL-H will engage route manager mode.

You don't have cockpit buttons for the AFCS? How do real pilots use it?

Of course we do; it's as per aircraft[1] so the keyboard shortcuts are for the corresponding switches on the left hand side panel.
