terrasync question

2017.1.2 WIN10 Intel I3 NVIDIA 210

Normally use TERRASYNC. However, was contemplating some scenery downloads as back-up, if Internet not available.
However, was surprised to find scenery still active for many areas regularly used without Terrasync being checked. No such areas recorded in "Scenery" or "Custom Scenery". How is this scenery being retained-is previously used Terrasync information being stored in a cache file, or is unchecking TERRASYNC failing to disable it? :?:

Terrasync downloads the scenery on the fly. This means that, as soon as the scenery is downloaded by Terrasync, it will forever be available on your pc, even if Terrasync is not active. If there is an update in the scenery, Terrasync only redownloads the files/regions that have been modified since Terrasync downloaded them for the first time. So if you turn off Terrasync and fly in a region that you 've flown before, when Terrasync was still active, than the scenery will be loaded.

You may like to consider using terramaster, you can download as many tiles as you (need) want in advance, store them in a folder anywhere ( I keep mine in the "flightgear" folder within my documents folder) then if your (internet) connection becomes slow and you are flying over somewhere where the scenery is actually downloading rather than cached you won't be faced with flying quicker than the tiles are loading!! I have a 1Tb hard drive so have downloaded the whole world which uses +/- 85 Gb of space also set the connection to HTTP in terramaster and it will update tiles automactically. Then there is no need for terrasync at all. Here is the link: https://github.com/Portree-Kid/terramaster at the time of writing the latest version is Terramaster 1.7. Hope this info is helpful?
