How to remove aircrafts from the Qt launcher aircraft list?

Postby Zequinha » Fri Mar 03, 2017 9:58 am

Hi folks this is about Qt launcher

I have tested a few aircraft that I find that don't suit my needs. In my case, I was looking for a long-range passenger airplane that I knew how to take off. I tried loads of Boeings and Airbuses, and most of them, after trying them, I removed them from the 'installed' aircraft list. However, now I don't know anymore which aircrfaft I have tried before and didn't like, since all the unistalled aircraft appear in the same way. This is very unproductive. Does anyone know a solution?

PS: If there is no solution for my problem above then, at the end of the day, I definately find the Qt launcher prettier and shinier, but FGo is, to me, far more functional with more compact displays all in 1 place.

There's a checkbox to only show installed aircraft? Doesn't that do the job?

Or is it that you want a "Hide previously installed aircraft that are no longer installed" option?

That's it! ;) At least a way/cue of knowing which aircraft have been installed before. Or else it's a mess.

Even if that option is added, how are you going to know of updated aircraft that may have come to a point to suit your need? The main problem remains the subjective rating. Allowing each author to judge whether a cockpit is photorealistic or not is still the major issue here no matter what launcher you use and what options it offers. We need a team of objective judges, or the implementation of a model voting system for the users.

Sebulba, ii'm talking about a way or cue that would enable the user to be aware of which aircraft he had previously tried, after having uninstalled these. That's it.

Yeah and I built upon this by stating that it wouldn't make much sense after some time as most of the aircraft that you could have tried would be updated and maybe fundamentally changed. For now, the only cue relies on your own memory. Having so many models to try out that we can't even remember what we've tried is awesome by the way. :)

Why don't you keep a separate folder/directory for the aircraft you've tested. Instead of removing the file to your trash, remove it to your 'Tested' folder.

You could then check which aircraft you've already tried.

In my "Aircraft" folder I have a separate "Disabled aircraft" folder. A quick drag and drop operation will move a performance hog out of the way in multiplayer or back in singleplayer. ;)

maybe james could add, to the new launcher, this capability of disabling a craft by moving it? add a button to the craft list to disable an installed craft which would move it out to a disabled folder... then a filter to select those disabled craft and enable them by clicking an enable button and moving them back ready to use...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

@ wkitty42,

I reckon James might cross you off his Christmas card list for your suggestion.

Why would he bother when simple procedures such as mine or Johan's exist?

I dare you to ask James how far down his to-do list this request would be placed.

i just might do that, though... we'll see... i don't use any external hangers (yet) and have all of FGAddon downloaded and updated every time i update my repos and build a new FG... i use the aircraft path to point to my FGAddon as well as a private area with other craft in it... thinking about it, it would be nice to have an easy method from the launcher or from the craft center in the sim to be able to add and remove craft like this... either flat delete/uninstall them or just disable them and move them to another directory they can be retrieved from later...
