CRJ700 nav mode failure

Postby lissalissa » Sat Dec 17, 2016 4:47 pm

Hello, all.

I'm having some trouble getting the CRJ700 to work properly. The model itself flies just fine, but the autopilot NAV mode has stopped working when FMS is selected as the nav source. I've loaded a route into route manager, activated it, and selected nav on the CRJ700 autopilot. The aircraft, instead of following the route, seems instead to be operating simply in roll mode, keeping the wings level. Alt modes still work as expected, and nav still works as expected when using VOR as the nav source. What's particularly confusing is that I was able to use this feature properly not even a week ago. This problem developed all of a sudden a few days ago when I stopped using locally stored scenery and started using updated scenery via Terrasync. I've tested GPS functionality with multiple other aircraft models (Citation-II, Citation Caravan, Dash 6, 757-200 and -300) without any issue since the change, so the problem seems localized to the CRJ700 family of aircraft. This problem was noted first in 2016.3.1, and is persisting under 2016.4.1.

Any ideas for further diagnostics and/or correction?
Thanks
lissalissa

The previous version of the CRJ worked, even with newer scenery.

I haven't updated the CRJ in at least a month. Is this a known issue?

Hi lissalissa,
the autopilot is not always stable and tends to oscilate or give quite harsh commands to the aircraft. Anyhow, what you describe sounds strange to me and should be investigated.
Could you please add an bug report here: https://github.com/d-jsb/CRJ700-family/issues
I am a little busy but I will look into it sooner or later. You may want to download the latest master branch from my github repository first.
Best regards

Hi jsb
I tuned the AP in my copy of the CRJ700 on my personal PC, would you like that CRJ700-autopilot.xml file?
Or, if you want, I could re-tune the current one again.

I would be interested in both, your modifications and a re-run with the current release, which has known problems with the AP :)
