How to turn on cockpit lights?

Postby zacarias » Mon Jul 25, 2016 2:14 am

Hello.

This may be a stupid question, but I can't find an answer for it: how do I turn on cockpit interior lights? When I fly at night the only thing I see are the instruments lights. Is there a general way of turning on the lights or is it aircraft specific?
I thought it would be automatic as soon as you choose a night time.

Also, do the airport runway lights always turn on automatically or is there a way to turn them on and off?

Thanks

Re: cockpit lights, that is very plane specific so it'd be helpful if you told us what plane.

Now I'm flying a Beechcraft b1900D, but I would like to know how to do it even in the Cessna 172P.

I think the only cabin light in the c172p is the flashlight (it's the menu of the aircraft).

Cabin lights in the c172p are on the "todo" list.

If you have a joystick, go to Flightgear/Data/Input/Joysticks and edit your xml
Place this code between <script> </script> markers on a suitable button.
To test it you could use it between the same script markers which operate flaps up
If you want to also turn 'em off use same code with 1 changed to 0
To test the 0 you could use it between the same script markers which operate flaps down.
ON
setprop("/controls/lighting/cabin-lights", 1);

OFF
setprop("/controls/lighting/cabin-lights", 0);

should work with B1900 and several other aircraft. :wink:

cockpit interior lights don't seem to be listed in the B1900 files.

Same problem here; going through the tutorial to run a full flight... I have the battery on, APU, and even have AUX power; the instruments are lighting up, but its dark in the cockpit.? And trying to program the CPU, is impossible like this. Please help. 747-400 .

I don't think there is a cabin light.

The property that controls the CPU panel is /controls/lighting/panel-norm, the rheostat knob (far left dark knob) is tied to the back lighting. I'm not sure how to turn it correctly though. It seems to turn up but not down?

normally, left button on the knob turns it up, middle or right button turns it down... some may have a ""split click"" so clicking on one side goes up and clicking on the other side goes down... CTRL-C to see the click zones and determine which it may use...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
