Can't complete the Taxiing Tutorial

Postby volkerbradley » Wed Jul 13, 2016 8:51 am

Am using the Cessna 172 at the San Francisco Airport.
At one point the tutorial suggests releasing the brake and increasing the throttle to begin taxiing. When I release the brake and increase the throttle a little, the plane does not move. Screenshot enclosed:

Do you have suggestions?
Thanks

The 172p recently introduced chocks and tethers-could you send a screenie of the "Cessna 172p > Aircraft Options" dialog just when the problem happended?
Erm,and did you hear the engine noise when you found the problem?
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

Your comments are very helpful. I had started the airplane and heard engine noise. When I then started the taxiing tutorial, the engine turned off and the engine noise stopped. So I started the taxiing tutorial and then started the engine and heard the associated engine noise again. I then tried to taxi but the airplane would not move. Here is the screenshot:

Is this problem occurring because the aircraft is still secured?
Thanks

yes... you must remove the chocks, tie downs, and the pitot tube cover...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

just to let you know, this has been fixed in the development repo and will be available the next time there's a release...

Here I am about 4 years later with the same problem. Cessna 172 Taxiing Tutorial. The plane will not move. The nose dips slightly when I apply throttle and rises when I retard the throttle. That suggest to me there is a wheel chock present. I look at the plane from the exterior and do not see one. I re-ran through the pre-flight walk-around tutorial and removed the wheel chock again. I cannot see a control via the menus in the tutorial to remove the chocks or ties downs while in the plane. What am I missing? Thanks

Sorry, there's a bug. In the GUI turn off the allow damage. It should work after that and you should be able to turn it back on as well.
