I see the airport when I set the time to night. One way around is found. But can you be little more detailed on how did you get it right on day? Even though you briefly explained it I cannot fully appreciate it. Thank you in advance for it

quite simply, i rebuilt the terrain...

i used the terragear tools (via the terrageargui tool)...

http://wiki.flightgear.org/TerraGear
http://wiki.flightgear.org/TerraGear_GUI

both of those pages speak of a windows version being available... i run linux and pull all the FGFS repositories so i build my own binaries... if you run windows, you should be able to download the binaries and build the terrain yourself...

then again, you might ask ""someone"" for their copies of this rebuilt terrain ;)

you are also quite welcome :)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Unfortunately I too run linux

And I firmly beleive that there is nothing wrong in asking for a help when you don't know something. I am not a computer guy and my profession is accounting and auditing so may be I could have posted some simple question, however I am happy that there are still people who have patience to reply even those simple questions!!!!

running linux is not unfortunate these days

you are also correct about there is nothing wrong in asking for help... if one doesn't ask, one can only remain ignorant ;)

ummm... i do have the new built terrain files for VCBI and the rest of the island, ya know... i just took off from there in the L1049 Constellation for a very long night flight to EGKA  if you would like a copy of these files, just ask...

Yes It would be great if you could share those file.

And I just wrote unfortunate because I can't get the files immediately and I too love linux and thats the reason I keep running it even though there is little or no support for linux in INDIA

hahaha... i hear ya... as far as getting the terragear binaries, you should have them... unless i am mistaken, they are part of flightgear but it is almost 0200 here and i could very well be wrong...

i'll see if i can package them up later... from what i see right now, unpackaged, they are ~4Meg raw... i don't know how far down they'll zip to, though... i'll find that out later...

Seems that KHAF is still broken which really messes up the tutorials. Was the "rebuild" I read about earlier still happening? Will it fix KHAF?

please tell me the path/bucket(.btg) numbers that you need and I'll upload them to my ftp server.

anyone has a script of formula to find out the .btg numbers for a given ICAO ?

I don't want to search on the mapserver for every airport.

example KHAF:
http://mapserver.flightgear.org/map/?lo ... FFTFFFTFTF
942049 and 942050

Terrain/w130n30/w123n37/942049.btg.gz
Terrain/w130n30/w123n37/KHAF.btg.gz

See http://wiki.flightgear.org/Tile_Index_Scheme (you only need the lat/lon of the airport then, but that's relatively easy).
