FAJS is dead, long live FAOR!  Topic is solved

FAJS is dead, long live FAOR!

Postby TrueNorthist » Mon May 19, 2014 1:52 am

I just discovered that due to the name change and subsequent change of the ICAO designation for Johannesburg South Africa, live METAR is not available there in FG. The airport is still listed as FAJS in FG when it should be FAOR. If one spawns at FAJS and tries to enable advanced weather it will abort due to live METAR no longer being available under that designation.

I hope that makes sense. I am using the current GIT and it is still listed as FAJS. Should I report this as a bug?

You should. It's the busiest airport in Africa and therefore it deserves the correct code.

I think you should report it to the guy who looks after X-plane, I think that it is where the apt file comes from

I already reported this a while ago (to http://data.x-plane.com) and got a confirmation last week. So the code will be correct in the next apt.dat cycle.

Thanks. I had a feeling someone else must have already noticed this.

it should be the next time the airport data is refreshed from the X-plane gateway and the world scenery is rebuilt... until then, we can only work with what we have...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
