GPS Help?

Postby RHeitzman » Sat Nov 30, 2013 3:06 am

Is there a cache of GPS info somewhere?

Is there some documentation on flight plan (FP) support - assuming there is such a thing? Or doc on building FP files that can be loaded?

Thanks!

Looks promising - no clue as to how to load the Route Manager however. How do I run the Route Manger?

FG 2.12.1

Also - is there an a/c that has a known working GPS implementation?

How is the Seneca's GPS?

for the RM (and flight plans) to work, the aircraft needs a full AP implementation so that LNAV/VNAV can function properly - aircraft like the Seneca implement their own AP (see the wiki). The c172p has a generic AP, but uses a Nasal-space GPS system, that can be purely controlled via the cockpit, but it is modeled after the real KLN89 - so the manual for the real thing can be used as a rough guide, missing features can be easily added by people familiar with basic scripting (JavaScript/Python), and changes don't require rebuilding FG from source.

Regarding the integrated RM, you will probably want to check out well-developed airliners like Hyde's 777 - the b1900d is a GA aircraft that also has pretty complete systems modeling (AP/RM), IIRC.
Feel free to add a new category to the wiki for aircraft with AP/RM support.

there is an FMS implementation on the CRJ-700 family i used. just activate FP via route manager GUI.

then use FMS to "exec" flight plan.

no idea for GPS implementation. i think you can check this if some of the aircraft has "nav/gps" toggle.

also some aircraft are loaded with Garmin GPS modules... again haven't test it yet.

let us know what you find.
