For convenience, I put the other images at .5 nm, 300 feet, in a new post

Why not use ALS procedural lights for airports / runways when in ALS mode? Probably we on AMD/ATI cards will have runway light too!.
And they can be directional and customized for each airport maybe?

The light autogen code spits out point sprites, not 3d models, so we have to use point sprites when using the autogen code. These are equipped to be rendered directionally, but there's a bug in the autogen code which prevents this from working correctly, so the function is off.

You're free to equip an airport of your choice with 3d model procedural lights instead - as far as the GLSL code is concerned, they're near-identical (the procedural light code is cut'n'paste of the runway light code with a few things added).

The rendering framework supports both options and both allow directional lighting and blinking.

So if we need to get those light together with an 3d object like realistic airport taxi lights the autogen need to be modified to include generating 3d objects together with procedural lights. How will the FPS impact be i wonder.
Would be interesting to see an example "dummie" on how it could look and FPS

Maiquetia will be be a useful test case... I'll look at it in version 3.... in six months or more :)

Not too badly if you merge all these lights into a single object - which the autogen code should be able to do, and you can always do for a single airport by running a merge script (stgmerge) - the OSMtoCity people should know details.

It would certainly allow to mount the lights on something rather than have them float around.

Creating a test case manually wouldn't be the worst idea.

HI! Is it possible to elevate 1 meter or 2 of some of these lights? Trying to resolve that.

I think that at the bottom of runway there is a problem, we can send the firefighters to extinguish the fire and to put in its place, PAPI lights, such as LOWI airport lights ?

If I load the LOWI scenario, evidently firefighters extinguished the fire ;) :

and at sunset time:

It would be nice to make a program to position the 3D lights LOWI in other airports, of course, at your discretion.

I am using FG3.8 and except PAPI lights i can't see any runway/airport lights. Is it possible to turn on the lights without using ALS and shaders? If yes can someone help me?

There used to be a problem that some video cards needed a different technique to show them.

sorry but which version?? there's no such version as FG 3.8... please use the entire version number string when telling us what version of FG you are using ;)

in your in-sim F10-?View->Rendering settings are you set to use sprites for lights or no.
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Well it's me again with another problem. I turned off the point sprites so i can see the runway lights now. but the problem is, taxiway lights and other lights on the apron are seeming in the same brightness so i see the airport only as a shining white area until i get too close.

yeah, your solution is over here -> https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?p=385293#p385293...

also, please don't ask the same question in more than one place... it makes it very hard to keep up with the problem and the solution...
