How to recognize parkings?

Postby adeleon » Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:01 am

How do I recognize the parking at the airport where I want to go?

I've searched in the airport diagrams (airnav) but the only information displayed is about the runways. How do I find the route that I'll take taxing at the airport to reach to the landing terminal and gate?

Thanks and sorry for my english.

The diagrams I use generally do show parking on them, especially for small airports. Use the "official" diagram (PDF).

For instance: http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/1102/09216AD.PDF . My regular trainer c152 is in Row P. Typical ground taxi instructions call for right turn at row K, after landing on 31 and generally leaving the runway at C.

For large airports, they only tell you the terminals. The KSFO plate lists them as "B/A" for "boarding area" and letter only. IRL, ground control tells you how to get there.

Thanks for reply.

Where I can get these "official" diagrams?

In Spain most of the airports has a diagram with each of the parking gates and its taxiways, but in US I'm a bit lost.

Or more officially, from: http://www.faa.gov/airports/runway_safety/diagrams/

Although they have a temporary bug in the website. So the link you get for the diagram should be something like http://www.naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/1102/00375AD.PDF but their search system creates wrong links ending with /1101/ instead of /1102/ and until they fix this bug, you can manually change the URL.
I'm using FlightGear Git version on a Win 7 machine with an onboard ATI graphic card and 3 GB of RAM.

These are the link I've found useful: Types of AirspeedE6B emulatorAirspaces explained with examples

I find it at this link http://aeronav.faa.gov/digital_tpp.asp? ... 04-07-2011
This version is 1103 (2011-March ?)

Thanks for helping me to find it.
