This does not address the fact that the Window Heat button above the RAM switch does not reliably work. It tends to switch off after take-off. Click the buttons, the light blinks on then off. Page after page of messages in the FMC stating deicing is off, then on, then off,...repeat. Climbing to 40,000 feet does not remove the ice, defying laws of physics. Set the altimeter to 3,000 ft the ice dissipates, but the deicing button clicks itself off shortly or immediately after clicking it on. The backup deicer is still not implemented after all these decades. It doesn't matter in which sequence the deicer is turned on, before or after apu and engine start .
Development is being done on the 787-9 which does not yet (?!) appear in the launcher hanger. You have to use the command line to select one of the two variants.
