Finding a Seaport

Postby ruhuna » Tue Sep 21, 2021 7:01 am

Hi,
I want to try flying Cessna 208B from a seaport to seaport. How do I find seaports in FG and how do I locate the plane on water.

Also can you please suggest some seaports as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Miguel,
Thanks for the quick reply. I located the plane in LEPO but it was on a runaway. How do I get it on water? Sorry, my knowledge is rather limited and I searched on line but nothing much available. How do you download Ludomo and install it please.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The aircraft has to have code to automatically reset you at a seaport if available at the ICAO you have selected. It is typically visualized in the GUI that this option is available. I did the code for the J3Cub and the c172p so I know they have it. In those aircraft if you start on a runway that also has a seaport associated with it you can open the menu and select "go to seaport now" or the option to "go to seaport on startup" if seaport is available at that airport. Or in the case of the J3Cub or c172p you can start on a hard runway with the amphibious variant and then fly to any water source and land on it.

The bottom line is that the aircraft has to contain special code to transport you to a seaport, if available, and that code is tied to a text file that has data base of all the available seaports.

I don't know if the Cessna 208B has that custom code or not.

Hi ruhuna,

I'm ludomo and I guess Miguel suggests installing my 10 years old custom scenery for the Balearic islands, which includes LEPO

Unfortunately, I'm not sure where you can get this scenery any more, and LEPO in particular depends heavily on custom scenery. It cannot be distributed using terrasync. Maybe you can check the mega.nz link in https://wiki.flightgear.org/Custom_Spai ... al_scenery

Sure, no problem. At some point, we must check LEPO in terrasync, in case it can be used there with few changes.

Thanks Ludomo and Miguel,

Even if you send me the file I don't think I will have enough knowledge to set it up. Thanks for the offer.

Miguel, you mentioned about Southern European terrain. Where/How can I download it please.

Thank you both. Cheers
