I understand why some people use Linux as the OS but why would you want to complicates things by using both Windows & Linux to operate the Radio when Dave's PI fix works perfectly well and the work is done. To be honest yours sounds very complicated but I am not tech minded.

Great - but didn't you mean the main release, not the Raspberry.zip? I think I need to provide another install option.

This means you don't need another computer (the Pi)

I get that but the whole thing sounds very complicated, especially if you've never used Linux.

Hi Robert,

The point of this exercise was to provide a way to use the Saitek Radio Panel when running flightgear on Windows without having to buy and set up a separate Raspberry Pi. I don't have anything against the Raspberry Pi solution, I just don't have a spare Raspberry Pi handy. I love Raspberry Pi's and use them for a variety of other purposes. But I just showed that the same software that runs on the Raspberry Pi can instead run in a virtual machine on the same computer that is running Windows and flightgear for Windows.

And although you might not realize it, the Raspberry Pi used in the Raspberry Pi solution is also running Linux.

Hi Dave,

Yes, sorry I misspoke when I said that the installation was the same as for the Raspberry Pi. I just used the source code, which I built and installed with

./configure
make
sudo make install

Hi Bruce,
Dave set up the PI for me but I was aware it was running Linux.

Well done Dave, lets's those with panels that currently don't work can now use them. The system you made for me continues to work fine so I will stick with that for now.
