Postby The epic chicken » Thu Dec 23, 2021 7:59 pm

So I got a new laptop but it doesn't have a numpad like my old laptop, so I wanna know how to change the the controls to something else so I can throttle and use the rudder

Have you considered purchasing a usb numeric keypad? Less than $20.

Same keys...

0/Enter = Rudder
3/9 = Throttle
PageUp/PageDown = Throttle
Arrow Keys = Elevator/Ailerons

Why only numeric keypad ? Full keyboard is much cheaper and will serve much better.

you do it the same as ever... you edit the keyboard.xml files... plural because you have to do it for each craft and maybe also the standard sim keys... not recommended, to say the least...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

In the meantime, as xDraconian says the number row keys can be used just like the numpad keys.
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.
