Bike trainer software [for Windows 10] with flightgear

Postby toddwestley » Fri Jun 11, 2021 7:13 pm

Below is a link to the C Sharp software I have been working.  Buried in the ...Just C Sharp stuff/WindowsFormsApp1dotNET/bin/Debug is the application "WindowsFormsApp1dotNET.exe"  I think if you install vjoy, on your computer, you should be able run the executable.

"Instructions.pptx" gives crude instructions -- it shows the screen shots of the program in operation. Only a Windows 10 desktop with vjoy installed is required to get this far.

I feel like a blind man stumbling up a stair well.  I really have no clue what I am doing.

Here is the link to a zip file.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1r0BO8d ... sp=sharing

You need a Windows 10 computer with vjoy installed to run the software.

Is this the bike trainer mentioned in the other topic, bike trainer with Wahoo speed sensor?

Yes, I previously posted about the Wahoo sensor. I think now there are other B:E sensors that the software will work with.

I am clueless when it comes to programming, especially for Windows. I wanted to share what I had done. If you were able to use the software I provided (either the linux version or the windows version) I would like to know. I use the linux version three or more time a week. I enjoy the challenging of riding a trainer and operating FlightGear at the same time. Riding a trainer for an hour is insanely boring to me.

Year ago,, I used a data acquisition device (USB-1208) to convert a riding a bike into a throttle input for FlightGear.

I am drawn to aviation; I have been to Oshkosh several times; I rode my bike passed three airports regularly when I lived in Ohio; in college I worked on a project whose garage was within the Virginia Tech airport.

I am happy to work on any issues that others are having; but as I said I am much more talented at working with linux than windows. if you know something about programming, please share your wisdom with me.

I'm really interested in this especially for implementation with the Dash and SUMPAC. Can you post a new link to the software?

Here a link to just the executable and necesary file: "https://drive.google.com/file/d/12sAgRE2ixu6UmpIb7fRfDzZ4KzztZM24/view?usp=sharing"
Here is a link with extremely crude instructions: "https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OIrmTcfnu9ZWaSEZU6Vqi4G20kfaOr0_/view?usp=sharing"
Here is the source [C Sharp]: "https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X14iDKu-phlog5wnVdTdHXtJrM_l8TYT/view?usp=sharing"

I will start looking up DASH and SUMPAC. Thank you for your interest.

Here is an older link for linux software: "https://github.com/toddwestley/bike_track_emulation" for reference; I use it almost daily.

WLBragg, do you actually use the windows software I wrote? I never had access to a modern windows machine to thoroughly test the software.

Unfortunately no. I still want to work with this software, especially on the HPA's. I've yet to locate and purchase the needed hardware for my trainer. I need one I can attach to the pedals.

Just heads up, when trying to download the C# source zip, Google Drive displays this warning:
Code: Select all
Sorry, this file is infected with a virus.

Only the owner is allowed to download infected files.

I think it would be much better if you placed sources on GitHub or the like.

I love the idea of a ZIP file being infected with a virus … SARS-CoV-2 ? Does it have bad symptoms ?

agreed... especially without any of the binaries... i see some supposed .exe files and at least one .dll file... if all the sources are available, no binaries should be needed at all...

it is quite possible for a zip to be infected... especially if it is a self-extracting one... but that's not the case here... it is possible something on one of the files named with extension .exe or .dll may contain bytes that match the signature of some virus or malware... the google interface isn't telling us which one, though... it could be a false positive... or not...
