razer blade 15 basic

Postby watercooled » Sun May 12, 2019 5:41 pm

Hey guys,

I'm considering to buy a new labtop for all applications (work, surfing and flightgear). And I don't want to spend too much money, but fly a bit. Well I'm not so good in computer things (but a little interested), so i need your advice. Will FG run and how good it will run? I discovered a second choice RAZER BLADE 15 BASE for 1470 EUR. Would you say that would be worth the price? Will this machine be more or less good for the next years or will it be outdated in a few months? Is it justlike a normal labtop or do i have to be good in computers and programming? I'm afraid that i try something (readabout "downvolting" or so) and itrefuses to work forever....

it has the following specs:
Intel Core i7-8750H 6 Core
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 max-q (whatdoes that mean?)
win10 home

and a read somewhere ddr4 and on the nvidia site i read something of gddr5 what's true now?

i would be glad to hearyour oppinion

greets

that looks like it'll be ok... how much memory is in it?
the video card should do quite well, too...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

That sounds like a nice machine for that.

DDR4 is for the memory -- GDDR5 is the video memory. They are different. DDR4 is the newest standard in the last few years. GDDR5 has been around longer, and is only used by the video card, in this case GeForce GTX 1060.
Make sure you get at least 8GB of RAM, for good performance in FG.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Thanks a lot for your replies!

The memory is 16 GB and the grafic card has also a storage its about 6 GB I think. So then I'll order it. I just wanted to make sure it's not completely useless for FG for some reasons. I'm looking forward to configuring it^^

thanks and aviator greetings

I think my son has one of these; and it's a very nice piece of kit, although I've never actually managed to pry it out of his fingers for long enough to test FG.

The CPU and GTX-1060 are easily good enough for FG; the only problems that he's had are the headphone jack and the power supply, he's got the touch screen 4k version and the screen is very nice although I'm so old that I find the smaller fonts harder to read - but I'd probably get one of these if I had the chance.

@Richard,
You can turn up the scaling to 125 or 150% in Windows :)

Kind Regards,
