AV8R-01 Rudder

Postby 2001kraft » Sun Nov 15, 2015 7:48 am

This joystick has become a cliche of problems amongst this forum and I deeply apologize for posting yet another problem which I, foolishly and probably personally, experience.
This problem spreads across the entire system, on all applications (X-Plane, FlightGear, etc.).

I have a rudder offset. Sounds pathetic, right? Well, the default position of the rudder stick shows a very weird, not-median number. It is offset to the right. When I continue the simulation, it seems like the rudder is heavily twisted to the right, and does not fully turn to the left, which, of course, causes problems.
I used this joystick stat program thingy to get this data without the need for screenshots and whatnot. Look at Z-Rotation, which I highlighted in bold.
Anybody who has an idea on how to recalibrate the joystick or fix the problem?

I use Mac OS X 10.11.1, latest FG version.

On some other operating systems there is a utility (jscal on Linux and, at least, on older Windows there was a control panel item for this) to calibrate the joystick - then these kinds of offsets can be calibrated against in the driver before the values reach the application program.
Is there nothing like that on Mac?

I didn't seem to find anything useful for that.
YSCalibrationTool is inherently broken, with text not appearing, and it doesn't seem to actually calibrate anything.

Ok, so I discovered a physical rudder offset on the twist stick. I have no idea how that happened or how to fix it, but I might need to take it apart to see what exactly is wrong.
