Well Alant, Saitek X55 looks like a nice bit of kit for the price. The original Saitek/Madkatz drivers must have been an awful porridge judging by the rigmarole one needs to go through to dump the old drivers https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=180924 and install the new drivers!
Really do suspect X55 would work better without installing any X55 drivers at all.
My Saitek AV8R-01 joystick works far better since Saitek CD drivers were dumped and fresh start was made assembling a decent xml file from bits and pieces gathered from the many other joystick files already in Flightgear/Data/Input/Joysicks folder.
The Saitek button/axis formatting software may be the only option for some other flightsim programs where you can't delve into the guts but Flightgear offers you the chance to do just that and to build your own xml which can do things button formatting won't do!
Such formatting drivers just get in the way and stop Flightgear working the brilliant way it was designed to!
