X52 pro Y rotation axis ???

Postby chrisb » Thu Feb 27, 2014 11:16 pm

On my system it all seems to work except...

The y rotation, or rotary 1 or top rotary is not axis 4 or 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 I have no idea what axis number it is?

The dial DOES WORK in both the device driver and in the smart application so I am certain it is working in hardware and windows reading and reporting the position correctly, fgfs does not seem to register it

The slider is axis 4
The side dial is axis 5
The hat seems to be axis 7,8
All main controls are axis 0,1,2,3

Is there a possible bug with axis 6?

Are you sure it's an axis? Scroll-wheel-ish-things (i.e. with detents) are usually buttons.

Absolutely positively sure y rotation is an axis, just like x and z rotations are axis
x,y,z rotation are all dials, all show up exactly the same in the driver, they all rotate, they all show the same analogue linear result in the driver and they all function the same in the driver
z rotation and x rotation show up as an axis in fgfs

There is a scroll wheel and that does show up in fgfs as button presses, but y rotation is not the scroll wheel it is a separate dial with physical start and end just like z and x rotations, unlike the continuous scroll wheel

I Just tested this joystick in unix on fgfs 2.12.1
Y rotation gets reported by fgfs as an axis and correctly works as an axis
I have just successfully tested it in other games on windows and it works and functions as an axis exactly like z,x rotation, so it is NOT:
1. A scroll wheel
2. A hardware issue
3. A driver issue
4. My fgfs joystick setup

It seems to be an issue with fgfs either 3.0 or the windows binary

So you're saying that all axes but six work? There's this similar bug: https://code.google.com/p/flightgear-bu ... ail?id=991, windows again. However, I don't think axes 7/8 (aka hat axes) are really axes - just wrappers for the hat - so they can be ignored.

(It's probably an issue with PLIB, which has not been maintained in forever.)

Hi All,

I've been trying to get some heli controls to work.
I have an issue though that Axis 6 isn't being seen by FG in windows. It works absolutely fine in other programs and can be calibrated within the windows joystick configurator no problem. It refuses to be seen correctly in FG though,

Searching I came across this thread and was wondering if it was still the same issue, it's also the Y axis in Windows/other sims, and would be Axis 6 in FG but isn't showing at all.

Many thanks,
Alex
