"I really second the first idea, though maybe a protruding plate or sheet would do, as clamps are cheap as well as that one that way also could use an inexpensive kitchen timer for procedures and navigation. The second idea is not too bad either."

HEHE  So, I'm not the only who have placed a kitchen timer for procedures and navigation in the Yoke, I gott a good one from LIDL with 3 LCD Chronos, dammed that the button battery stack takes short time to get empty. My next target is a E6B plate. But still I need to repair my GPU.

"Michat - There is room for extra buttons on yoke. Will do it. this part is still under development and may change a bit. No plans for hat switch for now.
Not for twin engine piston cockpit. When it comes to more buttons, we like more unique functions, so you don't need 16 way pow hats. Again there are products that have this covered pretty well on the market."

Excellent, to have extra buttons is always needed as FG has a lot of functions to assign. Not to have a hat switch could be a handicap, try to find more oppinions from others about it. I like unique functions too, but sometimes I needed a 360 pov hat (not the 16 way) in order to catch a good external point of view to take screenshots wich is very important for us.

" Switch Panel is big, but making it smaller wouldn't make it cheaper, and it would not be realistic. once again we are not making buttons and switches ourselves, we are using finished products. These switches are the closest to actual in the cockpit."

So, good point.

"QNH1/QNH2 OBS1/OBS2 HEADING knob, yes they are all on Navigation Panel, check on the web for bigger pictures and detailed functions list. http://www.computer2cockpit.com
This is unique feature."

Still I'm trying to find that photo with QNH's. LOL no matter, I believe in you.

"Explain this again about trim slider i didint get it, please?"

I meant that maybe trim slider in the Yoke is hard to reach and manipulate by hand because is place just behind left handle. Although I wondered if is better to use a wheel than a slider for that, could be more confortable to tune, in that point I'm thinking in two specific issues: the gesture that fingers, hand and arm must to adopt in order to reach that slider, and the second one the slider it self refering to if is better to use a wheel so gesture is only affects to the wrist and fingers with better micrometric accuracy, faster and more ergonomic and corfortable to use.

"About home modular cockpit, and natural steep.. we are working on something like:
grab money and buy interface, yoke, pedals and quadrant.
save money
grab money and buy Switch, Navigation and Fuel and Trim panel."

I forget first steep (buy interface). Well, your natural steep it more logic dividing it in two steeps. In all cases will depend of the user budget.

Again I hope to help with my oppinions and congratulate your team for this good work.

Nearly like a kneeboard:

As I never have been piloting myself I generally use A4 sized map printouts either loose on the desk or in a clip binder with either an airport map or sometimes an approach plate in a clear pocket inside the cover (though I this far only do visual approaches).

I use a joystick, but if I would be flying a yoke aircraft I would like to have the approach plate on the yoke in order to have more eye time outside the cockpit.

I definitively would if I used a yoke. :) Having a loose timer on the desk to fiddle around with, having to look a bit closer or even lean over it to read it would be too distracting, so I'm using the stopwatch found in Menu > Equipment > Stopwatch. I cant tell how annoying it is when accidentally "escape" it. Specially when flying a precisely timed track! Its easy to bring back but not while in a turn or when having to avoid flying into "the green part" of the view.

Some day I will add some aircraft clocks with stop second hands and a small stop minute hand. I just have to find the motivation (and finish of some of the many unfinished projects I always have in parallel, of which one is one of those  ).

Once again, going backwards with my reply.

Michat - if i find 360 pow hat as a unit product, i will incorporate it on the right side of yoke. otherwise i think it would bee too expensive to develop. Other manufacturers put pov hats because they cost them pennies in production. for small series product like this (1000 pcs annually) it would be just to expensive.

About QNH - i see where the problem is. Search for ALT1 ALT2, you see i didn't want to use QNH1/2 not to create confusion. You will be able to set QNH on both altimeters separately. This is useful if you want to know your pressure altitude and to keep one altimeter on 1013 for crossing the transition level. or to keep QNH on second altimeter when changing to 1013 on main.

About slider. That is not trimmer slider, you have trimmer sliders on F&T and electric trim one left yoke "horn" (i don't know better expression than horn)
That is autopilot pitch control when i pitch mode. Something useful to control rate of descent with autopilot descending. it is same bad place on aircraft too. we just don't have a place to put it elsewhere without splitting the AP panel in two parts. Me as a user find that repelling.
Back to slider, it is not something used too often, so that shouldn't be big problem. most people take controls themselves when descending to feel the aircraft before landing.

When it comes to trim wheel instead of sliders.. i gave up wheels because wheels are pricey to manufacture, to install to design to assemble, and with electric trimmer, you will probably never use hand trim. You will use rudder trim if you want to practice route single engine flying.

"About home modular cockpit, and natural steep.. i misunderstood you, i taught that you are speaking from your experience in buying S...ek products.
So i wanted to explain you that price difference will mean that you will be able to buy it in shorter period of time. Sorry for that.

Thank you for all support, and for wishes..

Hooray - as this is public for just few days, we are swamped with promotion and user communication. So thank you for doing all these poll questions for me. I will post them tonight because i find them precise. Thanks

When it comes to crowd-funding, i'm hoping that these prototypes that we are preparing will be stimulating. Yes i know that few 100$ is what people are ready to spend. But you know, this is something that this market has been missing, and we are hoping it will sold out. And we plan to offer it modular meaning that you wont need to spend entire 500$ to buy some starting products. But you have to understand that we plan on fixed funding campaign because we cannot offer these product for these prices if wee don't reach the quota. And that quota would be equal to 60 full packages. Don't be discouraged by this number, we are reaching to pilots to, and they are showing interest also.

When it comes to platform Kickstarter is for US/UK residents, so Indiegogo will be used. When it comes to time frame, except for feedback, that is why we are talking about this so early in development. We are trying to make the buzz, :) maintain the buzz, and crowdfund it after prototypes and testing.

We have discussed a lot of design aspects, and you proposed some changes.

I thank you for that.

I hope i answered questions that you asked precisely.

I reviewed the posts now, to see if i missed some of the features that we agreed should be, and can be changed.

- Map Holder
- Extra rocker switch on other side of the yoke (pow if possible)
- Extra push to talk switch on left side of yoke
- Stopwatch control

Did i forget something?

While our machining specialist is setting up the router and G-codes, i will take time to enter these changes.

Feel free to ask more about the project, and about the product that are under development. We have some goals and priorities about what we want to offer on the market, and what we won't, but that doesn't mean that we wont implement ideas that we can, and that are suggested here. Just please read previous posts, there aren't many but there is a lot of information, to see if we discussed something already.

Hooray - since you are the wiki admin, i wanted to check is it ok for me to form a FAQ section under wiki with some questions and answers from this topic?

Dear FlightGear users,

While we were discussing the design and changes, i noticed that around 60 people were watching the dicusion, and i see only couple of people voted on the poll.

So please help us by saying your opinion, and voting on the poll. We are here to see what future users think and want.

Thank you everyone.

Ok about 7 to 8 people voted, let's try to make some conclusions.

Most of users are not satisfied with their flight simulation hardware, and want to upgrade their cockpit.
Many users find available flight simulation hardware lacks functionality and similarity, but they generally don't think that computer2cockpit is practical for them.(this one puzzles me)
Nearly all users find available flight simulation hardware too expensive.
Few users would pay 500$ for entire cockpit, but some are interested in full instrument panel with radio stack and are ready to pay for it.

From all this we can conclude that most of FG users are not fond of such specific and complete flight simulation solution, but they want more generic devices.
We kind of expected that this would be more attractive to pilots. That is kind of obvious from our pre-order list.

From this we decide to move instrument panel development forward, and to be more competitive.
We will reduce the price within the first year but still first users have to fund initial batch via crowdfunding.

This poll was educative and i'm hoping that more people will vote. Please vote, give us more feedback.

Back to work.

you might reach more people by starting over with a new poll and by reaching out to more users via the newsletter and the devel list - while we're not a huge community in comparison to FSX/XP, having just ~8 users leave a vote is not very representative :D
You could also try to get in touch with some of the non-English communities (some having their own/separate forums), especially the French and Russian FG communities are very involved in FG. And keep in mind that not everybody is using the forum, and leaving a vote requires being registered - so you may be better of by using a 3rd party poll, there are countless free websites for exactly that. If done properly, I'd expect at least 50-100 people voting - a number which could surely be increased by reaching out to Curt and asking him to link to such a poll via the main FG website/facebook page.

So it really all boils down to networking - given that you are not yet marketing/selling anything, but just soliciting feedback, I don't see any problems...
