Joystick axes numbering needed

Postby macnab » Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:41 am

The axis numbering of joysticks in the various OSs doesn't seem to follow any sort of pattern. In Part 4 of the wiki article Writing Joystick Code I would like to make a list of the axis numbers for each joystick for each OS, so that the xml files can be made universal for all.

The article is here: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Writing_Joystick_Code:_Part_1.

Could all of you contribute by posting the information you have in this thread. In this format:
Code: Select all
Logitech Extreme Pro 3D
Mac
Aileron       2
Elevator     3
Rudder       1
Throttle     4

I will then edit the specific xml file and post it in this thread. If someone has the wherewithal, could they commit them to Git?

I will also put this info in the wiki article for all to access.

As far as I know, the button numbering is consistent. Correct me if I am wrong.

If everybody makes their own small contribution we can make the joystick xml files plug and play for all OSs.

Can someone please post to this thread explaining how to access just these "fixed" versions of the xml files from Git. I will put it in the wiki article as well.

Thanks everyone.

Hi, macnab

Many Thanks for the heavy, detailed, very useful work you've done on the Wiki.
My numbering under Windows (Vista):

Code: Select all
Thrustmaster T.Flight Stick X
Windows
Aileron                 0
Elevator                1
Rudder                  3
Throttle                2
HAT PanViewDir          6
HAT PanViewPitch        7

Sorry for answering so lately.
