Happy New Year folks.

I'm trying to understand how Flightgear determines how the AI at an airport for eg. KCLT determines the takeoff and landing runways if no specific scenery folder is specified to get the data from such as the KCLT.rwyuse.xml file? Does it get the information from terrasync somehow?

Thank-you.

i think the rwyuse files are used, yes... they are used in conjunction with the current weather and wind direction... if there is not rwyuse file, then the wind direction is the main factor... note that this will likely only (currently) be accurate at the originating airport where the craft are taking off from... the system does not have a way to know what the winds are going to be like when the craft arrives at the destination...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I see now; actually through the forum recommendations and help/support and the KCLT groundnet I have CLT looking pretty nice now.
