AI traffic pileup

Postby tarunmarella » Fri Jun 19, 2020 5:26 pm

Hey guys,
I’ve seen this in quite some airports, the pictures enclosed being Toronto (CYYZ)...
Is there a fix for this?
Cheers!

Yes, create a groundnet for that airport. How to do that will require some searching the wiki for instructions. It's been awhile since I did any of that kind of work so this is all the information I can provide. Maybe someone else can give you some particulars.

We have a recent and valid CYYZ groudnet in the Groundweb repo but it doesn't look like it's been sync'd back to Terrasync. Will check

Sorry to say I caused this. I bungled on lesson 1 : Lineendings. Lessen 2 is Codepages.

http://flightgear.sourceforge.net/scenery/Airports/C/Y/Y/ has Unix (LF) but the downstream ones like https://cdn.merspieler.tk/terrasync/Airports/C/Y/Y/ have CRLF because I had a bug. The merspieler ones won't download due to a checksum error. Once you synced with a healthy one, this will heal. If one of these is touched it will also be updated downstream. Give it a few days and it will fester out.

You sure it's not the chicken feed they scattered on the runway? :)

CYYZ is not yet re-synced on whatever server I'm connected to.

Sadly it still has wrong lineendings. I'll push a fix later. Might take 48 hours to do the rounds. Seems like the export only runs once a week

That is weird,

My laptop which uses only a basic setup and nothing custom got the latest groudnet last night (was showing the piled up aircrafts all week).

To double check I also just manually re-sync'd my other machine with terramaster and also got the same (yours) valid groundnet automatically copied to my terrasync folder.

Cheers

i pull my scenery from SF... i've not seen an updated CYYZ since 2020 May 20... i just updated (at the time of this posting) and only received a new EGNX.groundnet.xml along with three objects stgs and an ac for the egpe terminal...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

To be clear.

    * Terramaster has no problem with lineendings (otherwise I'd have spotted the problem earlier)
    * SF is fine, too.
    * Flightgear its self has a problem with the three downstream ones as they are not updating CYYZ even though it's faulty. FG hiccups since it thinks the file is faulty. After uploading an update to it, that will disappear.

BTW EGPE with Ian's wonderful Loganairs, a groundnet and a sketchy terminal

i might have figured out why i don't see the new CYYZ... i use terrasync.py with the --quick option 99% of the time... i'm running it, now, without that option and there's a lot of files being pulled in... this is ""interesting"" to say the least... i've heard reports of --quick being faulty somehow but this is the first time i can say that i've seen any evidence of it...

[EDIT]

i can confirm that my system has now pulled the latest CYYZ groundnet and rwyuse files... in fact, those were the only two in Airports/C/Y/Y that were updated...

the update process is just now into F/Y/2 and seems to be progressing linearly... we'll see what comes out in the wash after the update completes...

just to follow up on my post above, the terrasync.py run without --quick took 9 hours 52 minutes to run... then i did it again today just to be sure and it ran for another 58 minutes to pull 4 updated rwyuse files and update 3 .dirindex files... i remember now why i generally run it with --quick

I've finally seen the new CYYZ groundnet in Terrasync! I've been checking every day.
I tried uploading new twr files for CYYZ and KORD and found they uploaded successfully now using groundweb (I had tried them months ago and it didn't work). So more progress has been made. Thank you, Keith!
