AI Traffic ATC and conflicts with user aircraft

Postby ThomasS » Mon Jun 10, 2019 9:51 am

Hello all,

I'm using FG in standalone mode (no MP) with AI traffic enabled. When starting FG with the aircraft at some parking position in might happen that the same position is used by AI Traffic resulting in two planes intersecting each other (eg. EDDM Parkposition 186). Does anybody know whether there is a way to prevent this? Or is this considered to be a bug/missing feature? Maybe the AI Traffic system should skip a flightplan/aircraft that conflicts with the users aircraft.

And furthermore: AI traffic uses its own ATC (according to the code), which works quite fine. Can I take part in this ATC? ie. if I want to start taxiing, in order not to collide with AI aircraft, can I contact ATC for getting "integrated" into AI traffic?

Best Regards
Thomas

what version of FG are you using? i thought this was already handled but that may have been for MP only...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I think its 2018.2 (or 3?). The latest released anyway. Maybe it was changed recently. I tried with next and I have the impression there is no longer a conflict. At least after about 100 AI aircrafts launched I don't see a conflict.

Thanks for your hint.

I have the same problem for me and another AI aircraft spawning at the same exact location on loadup (VHHH, CYVR and WSSS). My FG version is 2018.3.2.

Also, I didn't want to revive a 3 year old topic and I think its slightly related so I'll post it here. For VHHH for me all of the parking positions face in the same direction while when I checked out this: /viewtopic.php?f=23&t=29549 the parking positions are all facing in the proper direction. Did the groundnet not get updated or something else?

My aircraft appears first at several airports, then an AI aircraft spawns at the same gate if that gate is normally used for an AI plane at the startup of FlightGear I am also using v2018.3.2.
If "Available" is selected at launch, should the problem be avoided? If so, I don't believe it is working, either.

Well, seems the problem really is solved in the upcoming 2019 release. This is from the git log

Code: Select all
commit 194830415785ac4cc4691b26c01892a30307dfc5
Author: Dan Wickstrom <daniel.c.wickstrom@gmail.com>
Date:   Mon Apr 8 23:21:51 2019 -0400

Fix problem where AI planes are placed on top of user aircraft when user either selects a specific spot or user selects parking
 to be an available spot.
