can someone please test this file for AI Traffic at KATL ?

thanks!

(our current/terrasync file has the issue that all parking headings are 0 degree.)

and all the parking places have the same name, too... i can't tell which one of the 253 A111111 spaces i'm supposed to be parked in :(
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.

I tested
http://media.lug-marl.de/flightgear/fgd ... undnet.xml
and it works fine for me.
It would be good if some more people try it before it gets included in terrasync.

Just tested in FG and Taxidraw, It works but has a few errors.

Some "on runway" nodes not set as "true", may be the reason only one runway being used?
"route not found" errors due to orphan node on runway, there may be more?
Cargo parking positions not set to type "cargo"
Some very strange pushback routes, they don't stop it working but do look very unrealistic.

Was this done in taxidraw or auto generated from a WED file?

thank you for testing!
it will be in terrasync tomorrow.

Some "on runway" nodes not set as "true",

in apt.dat not the nodes but the lines are marked on runway.
I noticed that FG does not like a line on the RW so I remove it and mark the 2 nodes "on runway"

may be the reason only one runway being used?

I did see 4 RW used: 2 for takeoff and 2 for landing.

Some very strange pushback routes,

apt.dat has no connection between taxi-routes and parking spots.
my script inserts one node and 2 line.
first line from parking position straight backwards (park heading +-180°) to the new node.
second line connects new node to closest taxi-node.

Was this done in taxidraw or auto generated from a WED file?

auto generated from latest apt.dat

That's probably the best auto generated groundnet I've seen so far.
As long the orphan nodes are removed, to stop "route not found errors", and the gate "type" set correctly then I don't see any other major problems with it.
If someone wants to clean it up later in Taxidraw it looks fairly straight forward to do. :)

Does WED not have a gate type setting?

Ignore my comments about only using one runway, I run it from a temp folder so did not have a runwayuse file.

It has one (at least the Git version does - a new WED release is in preparation, by the way, and should come out shortly).

thank you very much. I am happy to hear that.
To be more precise: Those groundnets are hand-made by many WED-artists and then converted from apt.dat to FG's groundnet.xml format by a python program. As I wrote before, this program adds the missing pushback routes between parking locations and taxiway routes. Yo can also add an offset to move all parking spots forward or backwards compared to apt.dat

I hope the other 8982 groundnets that I uploaded today will be as good as KATL.
Enjoy, everyone:
https://github.com/mherweg/Airports

Version: 2016-09-21

number of airports with parking/startup locations: 8983 (ca. 1000 more since Jan 2016)
number of AI ground networks: 1400 (ca. 500 more since Jan 2016)
number of airports with AI jetways: 341 (89 more since Jan 2016)

:D

PS:
I plan to add gooneybird's latest 4 groundnets to this collection. Then we all test for a while and if all is ok, I will submit it to terrasync, ok?

@pommesschranke: will this also include moving the 4000+ three-letter ICAO xml files that are misplaced up one directory as noted in my misplaced postings in the "update ATL" topic?

I assume these have all been tested and will not overwrite any superior existing groundnets?

yes, I tested every single one of them :-) hahaha

90 legacy groundnets are included.
tell me a way to automatically test if a existing groundnet is "superior".
the existing KATL - although hand made - was not.

In the readme.txt I suggest to not overwrite anything.
Instead put them into a custom scenery folder, so you can easily enable or disable using then.

I think that bug was not in my groundnets, but in some other files.
I do not distribute the other files. only groundnets and jetways.

It does not matter if there is 1 or 10,000 in my book they should all be tested before being committed!

Not very easy to do when they are included in terrasync.

Sorry folks but I have had enough of banging my head against a brick wall so I'm out of here
