Groundnets

Postby pommesschranke » Thu Sep 22, 2016 2:38 pm

Both LFPG and WSSS are not done by me. they existed before I started to work on groundnets.
It's easy to find out: If it contains <frequencies> then it's not from me.

those are 2 of the 90 groundnets that other usesrs & developers did ask me not to overwrite.

With KATL we found out that my version is better
(parking location headings & names)
, so we took that one a few days ago.

Maybe for LFPG and WSSS it will be also better to replace them ?

here are the 90 legacy groundnets that I currently do not overwrite:
http://wiki.flightgear.org/Airports_wit ... d_networks

you can add comments to the wiki or to my repo or here on the forum, which are good and which are not.

Thanks for that.

I rechecked the Terrasync folders so

LFPG is the complete version I asked Throsten to upload back in April ie viewtopic.php?f=23&t=29422&hilit=lfpg+groundnet so yes please do not erase it :-)

WSSS is "straight from apd.dat" same as in your repo (see previous remarks) so it would be beneficial if you could run your KATL code against it (not sure why this one ended on the 'don't touch' list.

I am quite happy to give WSSS the final manual touches in Taxidraw after you update it although I am travelling until oct 23rd. Still, happy to put that on my list for a November delivery

Cheers
Ian

good. have a nice trip!

I suggest we move general groundnet discussion to this thread:

WSSS is a no go in the end.

I was struggling all day to understand why I couldn't place my terminal correctly nor get my ground network to properly overlay the centerline marks (I use real Lat / on from Bing/Qgis.

In the end I realized the WED layout is actually off by quite a bit (see picture below)..

It would make more sense to get the WED layout corrected to start with but I have failed at running WEDBING as I do not have xplane installed hence cannot point WEDBING to it. I'll drop the ball here unless someone can confirm/explain I can run WedBing without installing xplane.

Cheers
Ian

Yes you can, I'm running it on win 7.

Cool!, Thanks a lot for the confirmation it's feasible

I am guessing I may be missing the Resources SubFolder. Will check tonight (at work right now). I know I tried to put in the path of my main WED folder in the top left box but always got error.

Mine points to the x-plane folder I created for WED.

WSSS is not the only layout off, since using WEDBING I've found several. I couldn't work out why my EGHI groundnet was not lining up with the layout until I run WEDBING and noticed the layout is a few metres out.

Hey Brett.

Thanks a lot for your advice, WedBing is now working perfectly on my Win10 machine. The missing resources subfolder would have been the issue). Also discovered wihy WED was crashing on apt.dat import .... It is apparently conflicting with TeamViewer which was running in the background ... I guess this means I will not clean any layout remotely, from work :-).

Will look at improving WSSS after vacations and after I complete the 777 liveries and traffic files update (777-300 model now complete as well)

Cheers

Oh, that's not good, I use TeamViewer to work my desktop from my laptop on days I'm stuck in bed, So far I've not used it with WED though.

I did the network traffic for several airports. Aircraft are visible at the terminal, everything looks good. I have a problem in that the planes circling me not the calculated route to the waist just like to go across the airport and just starting. Planes that arrive stops at the waist and disappear rather than circling the gate. I forgot creating taxidraw ???? by aircraft normally circled the designated lines ???

yes. EPWA has no AI ground network, only some parking spots.
you can create a groundnet with Taxidraw or with WED*

*WED groundnets can be converted to Flightgear groundnets with the tools that I made.
