AI Traffic Canary Islands

Postby flycanarias » Fri Jun 10, 2016 8:21 pm

Hey folks,
I am really caring about the AI traffic at the Canary Islands region. There is good AI traffic, but unfortunately, the major regional airlines are completely missing.
I'm think of BINTER CANARIAS & ISLAS AIRWAYS
You see these airlines almost everywhere, on every island, and in numbers...
There are all the models for the fleet on FG, even in the right livery...
For BINTER: ATR 72-500 and B1900 in Binter livery,
and for ISLAS only the ATR in ISLAS livery.
Hope someone of you cares for this subject...
If I can help, without any knowledge of making AI traffic, please let me know.
Thanks

Actually neither the ATR72-500 nor ATR72-600 exist in the AI/Aircraft directory... and the b1900d existing has no Binter livery (and isn't operated anymore AFAIK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binter_Canarias#Fleet)

Okay, so how can we add aircraft (ATR 72) and liveries (Islas and Binter)??
And how about adding some touristic flights, like Condor, Thomas Cook, Tuifly, Airberlin, or some Iberia flights??

I'm currently collecting data for the ATR 72 and hope to start it during the next week if I can find the time.

Flights for Thomas Cook, Airberlin and Iberia already exist but they will not show if there is no ground network.

Okay sounds great.
In fact there are flights, but there are very few. Could we make them appearing more often??

I can only speak for myself but I make a point of ensuring the traffic files I submit for distribution with FG are reflecting actual/real timetables.

Still you can definitely increase the number of flights by updating files installed in your local machine (no impact on central code or other users)

either

- Pick an existing Traffic File (FG$\Data\AI\Traffic\ and manipulate the flights frequency
- Build your own Traffic file for your own (fake) airline and decide on your own Aircrafts, liveries and schedule out of the ones available in FG/Data/AI/Aircrafts.

This seconds option is the one I use for testing my new AI models so you can decide where and when which aircraft appear.

Cheers

Most aircraft spend very little time on the ground, as little as 25 minutes in many cases, so the chances of seeing them is very low but the main problem is the lack of traffic files, i.e. at the moment in FG we have only approximately 6 airlines flying into Tenerife whereas in reality there are many more.
http://www.airportia.com/spain/tenerife-south-airport/arrivals/

What is needed is more people to help create the traffic files as at the moment there is only a couple of us doing so and we all have our own areas of interest, I am concentrating on the UK/Europe region at the moment and that does involve a fair amount of Canary Islands flights.

You also have to factor in the state of the AI and ground network system which is not allowing many flights to operate correctly.

Okay, obviously my main region are the Canary Islands, so what we need is: a higher frequency of the existing flights. I will care about this!
Until there is the ATR 72 in service ( I set my hope on you, gooneybird), I will collect some data for the ISLAS and Binter schedules. (We could do more than in reality to bring more life to the whole Islands.)
The Binter and ISLAS flights are mainly between the Islands themselves, so that we don't need that much regional files.
How can I work on the groundnet, for the existing flights operating well?

Binter flights can be found here: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/binter-canarias-nt-ibb

At the moment the only way to create working groundnets is to use Taxidraw and sometimes WED but this may change in the future.
Using WED is not essential but it does help if the taxi lines and parking spots are available and correct, these can be exported and converted so Taxidraw can import them.

There are several topics already on these programs finding some of them will explain it better.

GCFV and GCTS groundnets are already available through Terrasync.

Okay, so I'm going to do the rest of the canarian Airport groundnets, maybe I'll need D-ECHO's new terrain.
One question, how do I publish those groundnets, when finished?

Not sure who is handling the groundnets now, the last ones I did were posted on the dev list.

I checked the default ones, for me, they look good, but if you want, feel free to check it out a second time. Be aware that we have airport buildings, parking and gates now. How far did you get with the ATR?

:? :? What do I need to check out a second time?

The ATR-72 has not been started yet, I'm still collecting data.
FlightGear is not my top priority at the moment so don't expect anything for the next couple of weeks at least, also It's not the only thing I'm working on.

So,
After a long time, I hope to find time to develop Binter and Canaryfly AI-Traffic. The model is currently under development, I'm going to do the liveries, and I'm collecting data for the traffic files.
So, I think the canaries 8 airports all do have groundnets, but I'm not sure because I can't find all of them in the program. Could anyone please check whether they are, and if not, perhaps do them?
I think of the following airports: GCRR, GCFV, GCLP, GCTS, GCXO, GCLA, GCHI, GCXO

regards,
